The Bright Side of the Moon
The Bright Side of the Moon was the first feature film I cinematographed in Canada—an unforgettable experience that remains one of the most memorable chapters of my professional career. For twenty-one days, we worked on a frozen lake in Northern Ontario, surrounded by breathtaking winter landscapes and the ever-changing beauty of the Canadian wilderness.
Each day brought a new and unexpected experience, from encountering majestic Canadian moose to traveling across the snow by traditional husky dog sleds. These moments transformed the production into far more than a filmmaking project; it became a profound journey into the heart of Canada's northern environment and culture.
The film is an action-drama in English that tells the story of an immigrant couple navigating the challenges, hopes, and emotional complexities of building a new life in a foreign land. Following its completion, The Bright Side of the Moon was screened in two cinemas in Toronto, later broadcast on television, and eventually translated and aired by BBC Persian, allowing the film to reach a broader international audience.
For me, this project was not only my first Canadian feature film as a cinematographer, but also an invaluable artistic and human experience—one that deepened my understanding of storytelling, resilience, and the beauty of working in some of the most extraordinary natural settings imaginable.
