War was never merely a photographic subject for me; it was my first university of life.
At the age of eighteen, after completing introductory photography courses at the Young Cinema Society and beginning my studies in the arts, I took my camera into a world where each day was intertwined with fear, hope, and the fate of human lives. What unfolded before my eyes was far more than a sequence of events to be documented; it was a direct encounter with the fragility of life, the power of love, the meaning of commitment, and the boundless human capacity for sacrifice.
Amid smoke, destruction, and uncertainty, I learned that photography is not simply a technical skill but a way of seeing, understanding, and bearing witness to the truth of one's time. War became my classroom for learning technique, developing a visual language, refining my personal style, and mastering the urgency of working under pressure. More importantly, it introduced me to values that no school or university can truly teach: respect for human dignity, compassion for the suffering of others, and the responsibility of preserving the memory of those who silently gave everything they had for others and for a better future.
This series is a tribute to the thousands of anonymous women and men whose courage, sacrifice, and quiet presence remain alive in the collective memory of history and within the frames of these photographs. Each image is not only a document of a particular period, but also an attempt to preserve the memory of individuals who lived with dignity and love, and many of whom never returned.
For me, these photographs are more than a testimony to war; they are a testimony to humanity itself—a humanity capable of creating light, hope, and meaning even in its darkest moments.
